Privacy
What this site measures, who else sees it, and how to change your mind. It is short because there is not much to describe.
Who is responsible
waybu.info decides what is measured here and is the data controller for it. Write to privacy@waybu.info about anything on this page, including a request to exercise the rights below.
What we measure
Google Analytics 4, and nothing else. It records which pages are opened and a few things you do on them:
There is no advertising on this site, no ad products are enabled in the property, and nothing measured here is sold or handed to a data broker.
- the page you are reading, its address and its title
- the article, its author, its topic and the language you read it in
- switching language, switching to dark mode, opening a topic or an author
- following a link that leaves this site, and where it goes
- how quickly the page loaded and settled, as measured in your browser
Cookies, and what is kept on your device
Until you accept, Google Analytics stores nothing on your device. Measurements are still sent, without an identifier: the visit is counted, and you are not recognised on the next page or the next day.
If you accept, Google sets its own cookies (_ga and _ga_…) so those visits can be joined into one session and one returning reader.
Two things are kept in your browser either way, and neither is a cookie or ever sent anywhere: your answer to the banner, and whether you chose dark mode. Clearing your browser storage removes both, and the banner will ask again.
The legal basis
Measurement with cookies happens only on your consent, under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw it at any time, at the bottom of this page, and withdrawing is as quick as giving it was.
Remembering your answer and your theme is necessary to honour the choice you made, so those two entries stay regardless.
Who else processes it
Google Ireland Limited processes the analytics data on our instructions, and may transfer it to Google servers outside the EEA under the safeguards Google publishes for its transfers.
The site itself runs on Vercel, which necessarily processes the request that delivers each page — the address you asked for, your IP address and your browser — as any web server does.
How long it is kept
Event-level analytics data is deleted after 14 months. The aggregate reports built from it — how many people read an article in a given month — are not personal data and remain.
Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, its correction or its erasure, for processing to be restricted, and for a copy in a portable form; you can object to processing, and you can withdraw consent. Write to privacy@waybu.info.
You can also complain to a supervisory authority in the country you live in — in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos.
